I'm reading a batch of feature articles on the choice of PR as a degree course, and it's becoming apparent that we have Sex and the City character Samantha Jones to thank for the popularity of this subject among many female school leavers.
Their articles go on to explain that the reality is different from this television myth. Some even cite alternative role models such as the 'businesslike' Anne Gregory.
Yet I'm grateful to the HBO hit series for moving us away from the much less admirable PR parodies in the BBC's Absolutely Fabulous.
I'm interested to find out which feature articles you were referring to in this post.
I'm currently researching my thesis, looking at the effect the media has on the public's perception of the PR industry.
If you know of any relevant sources and/or similar research I would be most interested to hear from you!

I'd like to know how sex and the city effect fashion and beauty brand's business profit.
I had 7 years PR experience and am studying PR now.

Juyoun Kim's question is good - but not specific to fashion and beauty. It's a question of evaluation, and proving the effectiveness of PR, which applies across all sectors.
There's a ongoing debate about how we can measure the effectiveness of PR (not often reflected on this site - memo to self).
As to Sex and the City, it would be relatively easy to survey brands featured (eg Jimmy Choo) and ask whether the program has led to increased awareness and sales. Why don't you do this as part of your program of study?
